Project details

Once again the international humanitarian community will come together at the 2008 International Aid + Trade Event to network and to improve coordination and communication, sharing knowledge and experience to increase the effectiveness of aid, response and humanitarian relief.

The event will again take place at the Geneva PALEXPO, Switzerland, from 29 to 30 January 2008.

Following the positive feedback from the 2007 event, there will be a list of international exhibitors of goods and services, setting an involving agenda of cross-cutting themes and engaging key speakers from UN organisations, aid agencies, governmental organisations and development banks. Experts from the United Nations and aid agencies, NGOs, governments, businesses and academia will discuss the complex international relief issues, share knowledge about ! how to improve international disaster relief efforts and foster relationships for improved communication and coordination. Visitors can liaise with existing suppliers and meet new clients with new products and services.

New for 2008 - the event will be hosted in a new hall to feature an education zone; African, Asian, NGO and UN pavilions; expanded Meet the Buyers sessions; an integrated display area; and a vehicle demonstration zone visible from the exhibition.

Moderated workshop sessions will focus around the phases of disaster - disaster prevention; emergency preparedness and resilience; rescue, relief and response; reconstruction and rehabilitation; as well as development and partnership. These sessions will include high-level speakers from the humanitarian relief, aid and development community. Please click here to view our evolving list of speakers.

Meet the Buyers

To ensure that buyers meet suppliers that are relevant to their agency's needs, the Meet the Buyers sessions allow procurement managers to have face-to-face introductions with exhibiting companies tha! t offer goods and services specified by the agencies. This is an invaluable aspect of the event for exhibitors and procurement managers alike.

Interact and Network

The business and workshop lounges enable delegates and exhibitors to meet informally and make new contacts. Sponsored in 2007 by Microsoft and Inmarsat, these networking lounges offer companies the ideal space to promote their services. The VIP cocktail reception provides another opportunity to network informally while enjoying a beverage or two in good company.

Who will attend?

Project Managers, Coordinators, Engineers and Specifiers: will benefit from gaining direct contact with providers of gods and services being used on a day-to-day basis.

Procurement Managers and Logisticians: building relationships face-to-face. Whether talking to existing suppliers, or meeting and greeting new potential partners, the event offers an invaluable audience that will contribute to effective procurement practice.

Policy Makers: global decision makers play a critical role in directing multilateral humanitarian efforts. International Aid + Trade enables policy makers to increase their understanding of the practical implications of the decisions they take.

Suppliers of Products and Services: showcasing products and services to attendees and fellow exhibitors to network, build partnerships and effective supply chains to assist in humanitarian relief, aid and long-term development.
